Karen E. Ridgway, P.E.
Owner/President
Karen Ridgway
is a nationally recognized
expert in the field of computational
hydraulic/hydrologic modeling. She has spent her
30 year career in this field, has utilized a full range
of established software programs on numerous projects
large and small, and has developed her own programs for
use on projects when necessary.
Ms. Ridgway
is a Civil Engineer who is an expert in hydraulics and
hydrology as applied to water, wastewater, streams,
watersheds and drainage systems. She has extensive
experience in the hydraulic design of major pumping,
drainage, sewerage, water and wastewater treatment and
water distribution systems, including the design of a
small dam, major sewage and storm water pumping
stations, water and wastewater treatment plants,
combined sewer overflow basins and tunnels, large
capacity drop structures, open channels, pipelines,
manifolds, and metering facilities. Ms. Ridgway has
worked on numerous projects requiring permits and
compliance with combined sewer overflow, sanitary sewer
overflow, and other surface water and ground water
discharge regulations.
Ms. Ridgway
has also
developed several original computer models for civil
engineering applications including a program for the
analysis of open and closed conduit steady-state and
unsteady-state flow conditions in pipe networks named
the Transient Analysis Program (TAP). TAP has been used
to evaluate real-time in-system storage dam operations
in combined sewers, analyze surges in CSO tunnels, and
perform steady-state backwater profile calculations.
Ms.
Ridgway also has extensive experience in the hydraulic
design of major pumping, drainage, sewerage, and water
distribution systems, including the design of a small
dam, major sewerage and stormwater pumping stations,
large capacity drop structures, open channels,
pipelines, manifolds, CSO basins and tunnels, and
metering facilities - as the designer and as a Value
Engineering team member.
